Julian McKenzie is a journalist, broadcaster, and podcaster based in Montreal. He is a weather presenter and reporter for CTV Montreal. He is a graduate of Concordia University’s Multiplatform Journalism undergraduate program and Syracuse University’s Television-Radio-Film Master’s program with a Sports Communications Emphasis.
Julian is also a freelance sports writer and the Montreal Canadiens live game blogger for the Montreal Gazette. He is also a sports stringer for the Canadian Press news wire and a writer for Habs Eyes on the Prize. He has also made appearances on TSN 690 Montreal and CJAD 800 AM Montreal.
Through various platforms, Julian has covered a number of Montreal sports teams and events including the Montreal Canadiens, the Montreal Impact, the Montreal Alouettes, the Canadian Grand Prix, the Rogers Cup, and the Grand Prix du Cyclistes de Montreal.
Julian also co-hosts a weekly sports podcast called The Scrum Podcast with fellow sports journalist Tristan D’Amours. The show was nominated for two Canadian Podcast Awards in 2019 and has interviewed special guests including TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Canadian sprinting legend Donovan Bailey, actor Jay Baruchel, journalist Shireen Ahmed, and more.
Julian is also an editor for the Sunday Long Read Podcast, a show that accompanies the weekly Sunday Long Read newsletter curated by ESPN’s Don Van Natta and former Sports Illustrated writer Jacob Feldman.
Julian also has bylines in The Sporting News, Sportsnet, NOISEY, The Miami Herald, the Montreal Community Contact, and the American Hockey League website. He also previously did play-by-play and colour commentary for McGill University’s Athletics Department.
