Montreal native Nubian Nene’s muse is music. She is a well-versed dancer/choreographer who finds inspiration weaving the hip hop, house, waacking and breaking styles of dance together to create her unique approach. The ability to expand her creativity into a choreographer, performer, producer, director, and host, makes her an asset to any project. Living in New York for the past ten years has enabled Nene to work with some of the pioneers of the hip hop culture. 2018 & 2019 have been busy for Nubian Nene. She has performed in over twenty choreographic work, from touring the US with the Hip Hop Nutcracker (2018/2019) to A/V in February 2018 at the Place des Arts. She’s presented her solo work S T A N C E at the Harlem Stage (NY), Alvin Ailey (NY) and at the Survival of the Illest festival (MTL) in the spring/summer 2018. She has worked with the renown dance company Bboyizm and is part of its new creation IN MY BODY (2019-2021) at CCOV. She has been involved with the Haiti Cultural Exchange in Brooklyn since 2017 and has been a returning artist for various projects, such as Selebrasyon (2018), Ann Pale (2019) Through her dance company (A Lady in the House Co.), she’s presented work at the Ladies of Hip Hop Festival, INSITU site-specific Festival, Summer Stage, and L’Olympia. Nubian Nene has worked as a Movement Director for Haitian Production, The Haunting Season and produced her first waacking festival in the Summer of 2018 called Waack Bazaar. Nene’s experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher has led her to showcase her talents on television, in music videos, and in live performances in some of the most prestigious festivals and stage productions in the world.
