It was at the age of 14, in 1984, during a student show, that he took his first steps on stage. It's a revelation! At the age of 20, he won the prestigious “Just for Laughs National Auditions” award as the best new comedian. This award thus opened the doors to Quebec showbiz for him. Anthony Kavanagh succeeded in making the public laugh with a subject as delicate as racism. He also opened for renowned artists such as Julio Iglesias, Natalie Cole and Celine Dion. With the latter, he travelled across Canada for two years, playing in French as well as in English.
